7 smart tips for packing your suitcase

7 smart tips for packing your suitcase Moving tips

Yes, you’ve booked a vacation! A great prospect, but in practice also a bit stressful. It turns out people particularly worry about packing. Because you don’t want to forget anything, and everything has to fit into that small suitcase… As true space advisors, we know how to deal with small spaces. We’re giving you packing tips so you can travel well-prepared and stress-free!

Packing list for essential items

Although you could buy most things at your destination if necessary, there are some things you simply cannot forget. Anyway, the rule is: without a passport, debit card, and phone, you won’t get anywhere. Also, in certain European countries, you need a vignette if you drive through them. Good to know! Definitely don’t forget the reservation forms for the campsite either. You often still have to print these out old school.
For flying holidays, your boarding pass is of course very important. And finally, pack your medications immediately! Special medications cannot be found abroad and are therefore highly essential.

7 suitcase packing tips to use space smartly

Of course, you also want to take enough clothing and other items with you. But it all has to fit in your suitcase or car. How do you do that? We’ll give you a few packing hacks to really use every centimeter of your trolley.

  • First of all, carefully consider which clothes really need to go with you and which don’t. That depends on your destination: will you be strolling along the boulevard every evening or are you going camping? That makes quite a difference to the number of nice dresses you’ll take. And this applies to much more clothing: will it be hot or cold, and is it a city or beach vacation?

  • Furthermore, it is smart to roll your clothes. That saves a lot of space and your clothes will wrinkle less.

  • Another good tip is to usefully fill ’empty’ spaces, for example by stuffing socks inside your shoes.

  • Also, check whether there is a bath towel and linen service at your destination. It is very nice if you don’t have to bring that yourself. If you do, bring Hammam towels instead of bath towels. These save an enormous amount of space and weight. An additional advantage is that they dry faster too.

  • Do you really love reading? Then invest in a good e-reader: it is wafer-thin and has space for an infinite number of books.

  • Bringing shoes? Place a shower cap over them so the rest doesn’t get dirty from your soles.

  • And of course, you can save a lot of space when packing your suitcase by putting everything in vacuum bags

And then you return home…

Upon returning home, it seems as if you have even more stuff with you than when you left, and everything is crammed into your suitcase or car. And where was everything stored before the vacation anyway..? To ensure that your garage or attic doesn’t become completely filled with all sorts of beach chairs and inflatable tires (which you can never get back into the packaging anyway), you could consider external storage space. At ALLSAFE Mini Opslag, you simply store the items you rarely use. That saves you a lot of space at home!

Hopefully, you now have a good understanding of the essentials you need to take with you on vacation. And that jar of peanut butter really isn’t one of them. Or well, maybe you suddenly have space for it thanks to the smart packing hacks… Have a great vacation!
