Simple and affordable: switch your winter tyres to summer tyres
Tips for cleanup and storage
Winter is almost over: temperatures are rising quickly, and the night frost is gradually disappearing. Did you know that summer tyres provide more grip on the road than winter tyres at temperatures above 7°C? Driving on winter tyres in warmer temperatures is also not recommended, as the rubber wears out much faster. Are you planning to switch to summer tyres soon? Where will you have this done, and what will you do with your winter tyres? In this blog, we explain how you can do this both affordably and efficiently, while saving space.
Common ways to change your tyres
Figures show that 2.7 million cars are fitted with summer tyres again in spring, meaning that more than 10 million winter tyres need to be changed and stored. Many people are only familiar with two options:
Having your tyres changed at a garage: Your tyres often need to be stored there as well, and you may be required to purchase new summer or winter tyres. This is usually not the cheapest option.
Changing your tyres at home: Changing your tyres yourself can be quite a hassle, while both sets of tyres take up valuable space throughout the year.
Changing or having your tyres changed affordably and easily
In addition to these two options, there are also solutions that can help you save both money and space:
1. Use a space-saving wheel rim tree
You can change your tyres yourself or have them changed at a garage, and then store them at home using a space-saving wheel rim tree. A wheel rim tree is a safe and professional product for storing your tyres and takes up only one square metre of space.
2. Store your tyres in affordable tyre storage
To save space at home and avoid the high storage costs charged by garages, which can quickly amount to €60 per season, you can store your tyres affordably at ALLSAFE. Your tyres can be carefully stored there for six months for €40, in a dry, dark and ventilated space.
3. Have your tyres or complete wheels changed at an affordable tyre storage facility
Are you not very confident about changing your tyres yourself? You can also have them changed affordably by an expert during a designated tyre-changing day, including storage, from €55 per season. Elsewhere, you may pay around €60 just for changing the tyres, plus another €60 for storage.
4. Have your tyres or wheels changed at home
Would you prefer to avoid all the hassle and not have to carry four heavy tyres in and out of your car? You can arrange for someone to come to your home. They will change the tyres outside your house, take your winter tyres with them and store them in a dark, dry and ventilated storage facility. This service is available from €84.90 per season.
With these options, you can save both space and money at the same time. After all, you can probably put that valuable space in your shed, garage, storage room or attic to much better use. You will no longer have to trip over your tyres, and you could even turn the available space into your own hobby room or workshop.
What to do with worn-out car tyres
Do you have tyres that can no longer be used after changing them? Do not throw them away just yet, as there are plenty of creative things you can do with them.
For example, you could turn an old tyre into a tyre swing for your garden. Attach a strong rope to it and find a safe place to hang it. It can be great fun for both adults and children. You could also spray-paint old tyres in a bright colour and use them as flower pots in the garden.
