Spring is here – time to get your garden ready for summer!
When the frost leaves the ground and the landscape turns a bit greener, it’s time to get the garden ready for summer. You want it looking beautiful again soon! We’ll help you with garden and patio ideas so you can put the flowers outside again. Roll up your sleeves (and get your green thumbs ready)!
Getting the garden ready for summer: prune to grow
A good start to getting your garden summer-ready is tackling the lawn. You start this when it no longer freezes at night. Start mowing when that’s the case. This gives you a good view of the condition of your lawn. For the spots where the lawn doesn’t look good, it’s best to start with fertilizing. Overseeding is ideally done in June/July.
Uninvited guests better pack their bags too, because it’s time to weed. During the autumn and winter months, some weeds have probably sneaked in. Time to check everything!
TIP: Pull the weeds out by the roots so you save yourself work later.
Besides removing weeds, you can do even more to give your garden space for (further) growth. Think, for example, of removing dry branches and dead flower buds. The advantage of pruning in the summer (instead of in the winter or autumn) is that the so-called ‘pruning wound’ can heal better when the chance of rotting is smaller.

Turn your patio into a real lounge area
A recurring problem is vegetation between the tiles on your patio, for example. You naturally want to get rid of that! You can quickly get rid of it by using a weed burner. You can purchase these at various webshops starting from about €15. Your weeds are gone quickly and you don’t have to bend over. Much better for your back.
Clearing the patio of weeds is, of course, just the beginning. With comfortable garden furniture, an attractive canopy, and perhaps even a pool, you can transform your garden into a real lounge garden. Read our blog about the ideal lounge garden for even more garden inspiration!
Small garden? Design it smartly!
Don’t have sprawling estates? Never fear, your garden can also be completely brightened up! Look, for example, at the simple solution on the right where you still create a lot of color in a small piece of garden.
Try to be creative too. Above all, work vertically here. Then you can fit a lot more flowers and plants into a few square meters.
Organize your shed practically
Your shed is probably full of handy items to get your garden summer-ready. And what else do you do there? The possibilities are endless!
How about a handy canopy so you’re guaranteed to sit dry, for example? If you start the renovation now, you’ll be nicely finished when spring really makes its entrance!
You could use some space for such a major change. And maybe your shed could use a clean-up anyway? When tidying up, it is handy to choose smart storage options. You can easily create those yourself with a few shelves!
Another important factor in filling up your space are things you really only use once a year. Think, for example, of your summer or winter tires that you store yourself. Perhaps your garden furniture takes up a lot of space, or rather your sleds and ice skates in the summer.
ALLSAFE Mini Storage offers the solution for you with flexible storage space! By storing the things you don’t need for a large part of the year at ALLSAFE Mini Storage, you have more space. That way you have enough room for a beautiful patio and for the things you do need often.
