How to prepare your garden for autumn! (Part 1)
Perhaps you’re just recovering from a lovely BBQ with friends, or you’ve spent the entire evening by your homemade fire pit or fire bowl. Great, isn’t it, such a long, warm summer evening? We don’t want to spoil your good mood, but autumn is on its way again! For the sake of your garden, it’s wise to think ahead about everything you still need to do before it arrives. With this first part of the step-by-step plan, you can easily get your garden ready for autumn!
Step 1: Make some space this autumn
The 1st step is to pack away your summer gear. After all, you won’t be touching camping equipment, garden cushions, sports gear, summer clothes, and the BBQ for a while, and they take up precious space unnecessarily. If you even have that space to begin with. Our gardens are becoming increasingly smaller, just like the storage space in our homes. Many new houses don’t even have a shed or garage! You can store these (garden) items at ALLSAFE, so they remain in good condition and survive the autumn and winter.
Step 2: Time for some overdue maintenance in the garden
The next step is to check your garden as well. It isn’t freezing yet, so you can quickly catch up on some overdue chores this autumn! Consider, for example, removing the last of the weeds and doing some pruning.
Step 3: Bring furniture inside
If you want to keep your garden furniture in top condition, it is best to bring it inside. Did you know that they actually last 30% longer when stored indoors? This will save you a lot of money because you won’t need to buy a new set just yet. Give them a good clean first, and then store them in your shed, attic, or an external storage unit.

Before you actually store the furniture away, it is a good idea to look at its maintenance and carefully consider how you want to store them.
- Using protective covers for garden furniture is not recommended for the autumn. When using a cover, there is a chance that the garden furniture won’t be able to air out properly. Combined with moisture, this will cause ugly mildew stains that are impossible to remove.
- Want to enjoy your parasol for as long as possible? Then use a parasol cover to protect it properly. This protects your parasol against both rain and sun. It also prevents weathering and mildew stains. Make sure that the parasol is completely dry before packing it into a protective cover.
There. The first steps have been taken. Want to know more about getting your garden ready for autumn? Read it in part 2! This way, your garden will look radiant again next spring.
